Foot Reflexology

The human nervous system provides a set of communication pathways between the feet and internal organs or subsystems throughout the body.  By the knowledge and skillful use of these pathways it is thus possible to apply stimulation externally to the bottom of the foot that will affect the associated internal organ.  In this way, we can, for example, relieve post-operative pain or discomfort in the digestive system -- by way of these reflex paths -- without directly manipulating the tissue areas still healing from the surgery.  Stimulation of the reflexology points also increases circulatory and lymphatic system flows, enhancing immune system function by removing flow blockages.

The procedure is performed with the clothed client lying face-up on the massage table, with feet bared.  The feet are washed and the feet and ankles are given a relaxing massage before the reflexology procedure begins.  No mechanical tools are used -- pressure is applied with fingers and thumbs only.  The therapy session ends with a pleasant foot rub, using a non-greasy lotion that enhances the surface of the feet.  Since the procedure is likely to unblock and release toxins accumulated in body that had been inaccessible to the lymphatic system prior to treatment, the client will be encouraged to drink quantities of water and other fluids so that they will be finally eliminated.
